A portable air conditioner like the Whynter ARC-14S is the ideal solution for a bedroom, office, or server room. Utilizes advanced auto drain technology to produce cool air by using and recycling moisture collected during cooling.
The 14,000 BTU Whynter – ARC-14S is a worthwhile upgrade if you need it for cooling more than a bedroom, or if you have constant temperatures above 100°F. Even though you can easily move it, it is also loud enough to disrupt your sleep in a bedroom, and it has impressive cooling power.
A big plus for comparison shoppers is the optional “heat-pump” heating modes found in the ARC 14S. In really cold climates, it might not be as effective as a space heater, but it’s a good two-in-one option for a chilly morning.

WHYNTER ARC 14S REVIEW
With its mobile and powerful design, the Whynter ARC-14S portable air conditioner stands out as a very powerful and portable air conditioner. Any small space, such as a bedroom, office, or server room, can be kept cool with this dual hose portable air conditioner.
Cool air is produced through advanced auto drain technology, which recycles moisture collected during cooling. In addition to providing fast cooling, this device uses dual hoses.
The results of our research indicate that ARC 14S is in high demand among users. However, some unusual reports were found from a few users. Our Whynter ARC 14S review strives to deliver the truth, no matter how good or bad it may be.
COOLING
Several ducts circulate warm air into the unit, and one exhausts hot air outside. Despite being “sealed”, the ducts are extremely large (about 5 inches in diameter) and made from thin plastic. This results in the ARC-14S working hard to cool the room as both ducts radiate heat back into it.
Infiltration air also reduces the unit’s actual cooling capacity. Due to pressure differences, infiltration air gets pulled into the conditioned room thanks to warm outdoor air.
When the ARC-14S exhausts air from the room, these pressure differences are created. It pulls in almost the same amount of air as it exhausts because it is a dual hose unit.

The unit likewise pulls in air from the molded room through a grille on the rear of the unit. Each of these adds up to a tension distinction – to a lesser degree a distinction than what a solitary hose unit would make – however a distinction in any case.
A new standard, known as seasonally adjusted cooling capacity (SACC), allows outdoor testing at warmer temperatures – more realistic for real-world uses. Infiltration and ducting heat are also included in the SACC calculation.
In general, online sources quote different SACC values for Whynter ARC-14Ss, but the range is approximately 8,500 to 8,900 BTUs.
ENERGY
In the maximum cooling mode, the ARC-14S consumes 1250 watts of electricity. Compared to the other 14,000 BTU air conditioners, this has a little bit less power draw. There are most likely to be 1400 watts drawn by a 14,000 BTU unit.

Are Whynter units more energy efficient because they draw less power? EER (energy efficiency ratio) was the old standard for calculating energy efficiency, so it appears that it does. An EER is a measure of BTUs per watt.
Consequently, the Whynter would have an EER of 14,000/1250 = 11.2. There would be a 10.2 EER on the LG LP1419IVSM since its EER would be 14,000/1370. As a result, the Whynter seems to have a higher energy efficiency due to the higher ratio.
PORTABILITY
To measure portability, we graded each unit’s ability to roll, carry, install, and remove the exhaust hose and insert, as well as how easy it was to use. There are 25 points of the total score on the Whynter ARC 14S, which accounts for about average performance.
There is a bit of weirdness with this AC’s steering, but it is quite easy to move around. Rolling resistance is low, but it will pull to one side from time to time. With a weight of a little over 77 lbs, it is one of the heaviest units in the group.
Our least favorite air conditioner to carry up and down stairs is also because of the small handles, which may cause undue pain for your hands. If you want to replace or install the window insert, it is one of the easiest models. The screws can be tightened anywhere between 20″ and 46″, which only requires a screwdriver.
If it’s about portability, air purifiers are way superior to air conditioners though they work differently. Take Airfree P2000 for example. You can also read about other purifiers as well if you decide to buy one.
REPLACEMENT
One year of warranty is provided for the unit, and three years are provided for the compressor. Using unofficial replacement parts will prevent you from receiving a warranty. Official replacement parts can be found here –
WHAT’S IN THE BOX
- Window installation accessories
- Remote
- Activated carbon air filter
- Washable pre-filter
- Storage cover bag with pocket
A protective cover with a pocket protects your portable AC unit and stores your exhaust hose, window kit, remote control, and user manual when not in use.
Keeping the unit covered will prevent dust and dirt from collecting on it while it is in storage. Placing the unit on a hard and level surface that can support its weight is advised. A caster wheel makes the unit portable.
Smooth, flat surfaces are the only surfaces it should be rolled on. The use of carpet surfaces should be done with caution. Avoid rolling over objects with the unit.
PROS
- Fast and effective cooling is provided by dual hoses.
- Timers with 24-hour programming are easy to set on a daily or weekly basis.
- Dust particles are eliminated from the air by a built-in activated carbon filter.
CONS
- In terms of size and weight, it is one of the largest and most heavy portable AC units available.
OUR RATING OF WHYNTER ARC 14S
Our research findings provided a lot of good and bad sides to ARC 14S. Again, we remind you that it is not our call, it is the user who rated this unit. Here goes our final rating for Whynter ARC 14S.

VERDICT
A hot climate requires a unit that can actually crank out cold air, despite the fact that it is expensive and runs quite a bit. It does that better than any other machine on the market.
We suggest you buy the ARC 14S, it’ll be worth your money.
